Yoga and Hiking with Secret Journeys of Sedona
Let us describe some of the services that Secret Journeys of Sedona provides. We are proud members of the Sedona Metaphysical & Spiritual Association and are permitted by the Coconino National Forest to take people onto the land. Let Jan Griffin and friends take you out for the experience of a lifetime, in this beautiful, mysterious, spiritual land called Sedona. Come and be transformed with a hike and a Yoga class on the Red Rocks, or a private Yoga class at the location of your choice. Come and connect to the spirits that were here before on a Native Ruin Hike. Maybe you just want to check out the many different bird species in the area or learn about the animals and plants of the high desert (their medicinal uses and how the Native Americans used them) if so, we can take you on aNature Hike. We can also take you on a Photo Hike to the many places in Sedona to
get the shot of a lifetime! In the summer we can also provide the option of hiking to some secret swimming holes, to cool off, there is nothing like jumping into a pool of clean, clear water when it’s hot, so join is on a Swimming Hike, see details in our hikes page. See photos of some of the locations we can take you to in Hiking Trails of Sedona.
Secret Journeys of Sedona also offers a very unique service, Breast Cancer Survivors Yoga Retreats. In 2005 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I had 3 surgeries then a radical mastectomy. My yoga practice helped me
so much in my recovery that I wanted to share this experience with others, so I proceeded to take Yoga Teacher Training, I now have over 600 hours of Yoga teacher training and have been teaching for 2 years. In April 20013 I will become a Certified Recuperative Yoga specialist, just for Breast Cancer Survivors. I look forward to helping fellow survivors to balance body mind and spirit, regain range of movement and return, to regular daily activities and to enjoy life again.
About Jan Griffin
My name is Jan Griffin. I would like to give you a little history of my background and how “Secret Journeys of Sedona” came about.
I grew up in South Texas, on a beautiful spring fed creek, I spent every waking moment outdoors. I explored under rocks for bugs and snakes, the creek and all it’s creatures, climbed trees, and was truly one with nature.
In 1975, I moved to the Hill Country of Texas where I lived off of the land for 17 years (6 years with no electricity), growing our own food, using wood for heat and cooking, and collecting rain water for drinking. Through all of these experiences I learned a lot about Mother Earth and being one with the Land.
In 1991 I moved to Alberta, Canada where I pursued my lifelong interest in plants and became a Certified Horticulturist and Landscape Designer and came to run my own and Nursery and Landscape Design Business.
I have been a Yoga Hiking Guide since coming to Sedona. It has been a great experience realizing that I intuitively know what practice people needed to help them feel better about themselves. Doing Yoga on the Red Rocks is truly amazing.

Why I came to Sedona
I, like many other people in Sedona, was drawn to this special environment (some call it Red Rock fever). We all came for different reasons but most had some need for healing or self improvement, I was no different. I came in search of answers that I needed in my life.
Once I was out on these beautiful Red Rocks, I felt more clarity of what I wanted to do in my life than I had in many years, that is to help people.
I feel very blessed to be able to share all my years of Yoga training and knowledge of the plants, birds, and animals of this special place. There is a special feeling that you get by reviving and rejuvenating your mind and body and spirit outdoors in this mysterious, beautiful land and to feel the unique energy that surrounds Sedona.
